The Norwegian Male Choir is Norway's professional male choir, comprising 18 dedicated singers under the direction of Marius Skjølaas.
The choir's mission is to renew and revitalize the Norwegian male choral tradition. It collaborates extensively with choirs both in Norway and internationally. The ensemble has released numerous albums, undertaken nationwide concert tours, published sheet music, and performed at official events and concerts throughout Norway.
A central ambition of the choir is to serve as a professional role model and an inspirational resource for choirs across Norway.
The Norwegian Male Choir engages classically trained singers educated at conservatories and university-level music institutions. As Norway's only professional male choir, it has, in recent years, become an attractive employer within the country's choral community.
Since its first project in 2009, the choir has maintained a consistently growing level of activity each year. Its enduring vision and passion for the male choral repertoire have resulted in numerous recordings, all of which are available on Spotify and Apple Music. The choir has also published the sheet music collections Christiania Mannskors Blåbok and Something Borrowed through Norsk Musikforlag.
The ensemble has toured all of Norway's major cities and has performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony, the Norwegian Parliament's annual Christmas celebration, and twice at the prestigious Oslo International Church Music Festival. It has also participated in the National Theatre's Ibsen Festival and served as Norway's representative choir at the Nordic Church Music Symposium in Copenhagen in 2025.
In August 2026, the Norwegian Male Choir will be one of only three European choirs invited to perform at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Macau.
